Important Changes to MNsure’s QHP Renewal Process
10/8/2026 3:25:20 PM
On October 8, MNsure began processing renewals for consumers currently eligible for qualified health plans (QHPs), updating their financial eligibility for 2027. With the transition to the MNsure Eligibility and Enrollment System (MN-EES), there are some very important changes to this process.
Prior to November 1, consumers will only see a 2026 tab on their account dashboard. This tab shows the consumer their 2026 application, eligibility and enrollment information. The information from their current 2026 application is being used to update their eligibility for 2027.
Beginning November 1, consumers will see two tabs on their account dashboard.
- The 2026 tab will continue to show the consumer their 2026 application, eligibility and enrollment information.
- If successfully renewed, a new 2027 tab will show the consumer their 2027 application, eligibility and enrollment information.
Consumers should continue to report changes to their 2026 application that impact their 2026 eligibility.
- After October 8, changes reported to update the application on the 2026 tab will only update their 2026 eligibility. These reported changes will NOT flow through to their 2027 application and eligibility.
- If a change impacts their 2027 eligibility, the consumer will need to report the same change AGAIN on or after November 1 by updating the 2027 application available on the 2027 tab.
November 1 or later, consumers can report changes that impact 2027 eligibility by updating their 2027 application via the 2027 tab.
MNsure is also adding a pop-up message to consumer portals in MN-EES notifying them the changes they make on or after October 9 won’t carry over to 2027. Consumers are instructed to return on November 1 to make those same changes to their 2027 application.
